12/20/21 The Lovers – Wizards Tarot

ree

I'm conscious of the Winter Solstice tomorrow and planning to do some work with my Higher Self. That's what the Lovers card is all about, for me. It also indicates worldly love and lust, but being a Major Arcana card, the symbolism for the Spirit's Quest indicates love for the higher, better, wiser self. The Fool of the first card now confronts feelings and a relationship with another; a lover, friend, spouse, God/dess, her own self, or her Higher Self of pure eternal spirit.

A man and woman clasp hands underneath a pentacle held aloft by the dry winter twigs of a green apple tree that is heavy with fruit. Red apples adorn her green robe and golden fire adorns his golden robe. The look on her face and her body language bother me. She looks reluctant, as though the man is pulling her forward. He looks serene and happy. He is sure of his decision, she is not. The deck creator, Barbara Moore, writes of excitement and trepidation while considering this relationship, partnership, or other important connection. The apples symbolize discernment. Take a chance on Love seems to be the advice of this card. Take a look inward and give some love to yourself. Be sure of your path and walk on it proudly and serenely. This is the path of your own choosing. Trust your heart.

The Lovers also indicates love of the Lower Self, or the physical body. This can mean self care, from regular bathing and brushing your teeth to luxurious pampering like massaging a lovely scented oil into your feet and choosing to eat something tasty and nourishing.

The Lovers card also indicates lust. Be sure of your decision in regards to this relationship or connection, and the reasons for it. Do you need to give it some more time and think things through again? What are your exact reasons for going forward on this path? Are they in line with your values?
