Happy Equinox!

It's getting warmer. Here in North Carolina the daffodils are done, the pink redbuds and yellow forsythia are in full swing. Gaia, Mother earth is awakening. Today is the Vernal Equinox when day and night are both twelve hours long. This special day is observed as an Esbat named for the Goddess of Spring, Eostar in the Pagan or Witch calendar. Eostre, Eostar, Easter the Goddess of Spring and fertility associated with eggs and rabbits and sprouting seeds.

She is card number 13 in the Goddess Power Oracle deck of cards by Collette Baron-Reid and illustrated by Jena DellaGrottaglia. Thirteen is often associated with Death which we understand as a doorway to Rebirth and New Beginnings. Every Winter is a death when nature retracts and we slow down and end our activities. Every Spring is a rebirth of one's life and spirit. The influx of pollen wakes us all up and makes us think of love and gives us creative juice.

It's time to reawaken to what you already know. Renew your efforts to reach your goals. Regain your confidence. Revive your spirit by meditation and cultivating your spiritual practices. Regenerate your determination by examining the reasons behind your goals. Restore your self to your true self. Resume your dedication to your path. Replenish your energy by nurturing yourself.

Today is a day to celebrate the rebirth of Spring. It's the time to till the earth of your life and plant the seeds of your earnest desires. Water these seeds with effort. And give them the bright light and warmth of your prayer and action.

Here is my prayer to the Goddess Eostara:

Dear Goddess,

I love seeing your glory all around me in the reawakening of nature, the return of the birds, and the return of warmth and light. I am grateful for the renewal of the earth in this season. I am grateful for Your blessings and Your presence in my life. I am grateful for my land and garden. I ask Your help in nurturing and caring for it.

I offer You my efforts at self-improvement and pray that they be pleasing to You. I am nothing without You. Please guide me on my path and help me with these efforts each day throughout the year. Help me to think right thoughts and to choose right actions in every moment of every day.

Please empower my efforts at magick and wand making, writing and jewelry making. Please guide great customers to my tarot business and my petsitting business. Please guide me in serving my clients as well as my volunteer activities.
