The World for Earth Day

Thought I'd examine the World card of the Major Arcana from several decks in honor of Earth Day for Earth week. Reduce/Reuse/Recycle is a mantra to teach us to pollute less, consume less, to come into harmony with the natural cycle of the World which already reduces, reuses, and recycles ... everything... every day, every year. Let your Self come in tune with the natural cycle of the seasons. Look around at the workings of Nature and you will see it happening.

Today's World card is from the gorgeous Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr entitled Gaia. She mentions the importance of living in harmony with Gaia's resources. The meaning according to the little white book is connection with the universe, expansion and hope; awareness of the ecological balance; travel and communications.

Winter and Summer appear above and below the prehistoric or fantastical image of the globe. The Sun and a thin sickle Moon hang in a sea of stars. The Earth or Gaia is veiled, perhaps by the Milky Way. On either side of this picture Oya from the Strength card and Freyja from the Power card appear to support Gaia.
